About Sea The Spirit
Courtnie May, known artistically as Sea The Spirit, is a visionary artist, cultural storyteller, and founder of the Sea The Spirit Collective. Her journey as a creator began in 2018 with her debut art show at the Masquerade in Atlanta, GA, and has since blossomed into a practice rooted in ancestral memory, spiritual awakening, and community connection.
Of Cherokee, Irish, Welsh, and Norwegian heritage, Courtnieโs art carries the echoes of her diverse lineage. This blended ancestryโindigenous wisdom, Celtic mysticism, and Northern traditionsโinspires the spiritual symbolism, mythic archetypes, and natural elements woven throughout her work. Her paintings channel vivid visions of spirits, dragons, and cosmic landscapes, expressed through bold color palettes and flowing geometry. Each piece becomes a ceremonial spaceโbridging worlds, honoring heritage, and provoking deep introspection and healing.
Beyond the canvas, Courtnie leads the Sea The Spirit Collective, an artist-driven community dedicated to uplifting creators through vending opportunities, live art experiences, murals, and collaborative cultural projects. As a coordinator and visionary, she has fostered countless spaces where artists and audiences come together, creating a living network of support, creativity, and shared growth.
Looking forward, her vision extends into land stewardship and community healing. She is developing a food forest and shared land trust in Georgia that merges sustainable living practices with indigenous ceremony and multicultural storytelling. This future project embodies her commitment to weaving together art, culture, and collective care into a lasting legacy.
At its essence, Sea The Spirit is more than an artistic identityโit is a calling: to awaken spirit through creativity, honor ancestral roots, and co-create a future where art, community, and culture thrive together.
Sea The Spirit is a visionary art collective that channels ancestral energy, sacred symbolism, and spiritual storytelling into vibrant works of art, immersive experiences, and healing spaces. We honor indigenous roots and community spirit to create intentional art that awakens, inspires, and unites.
